Yeah great advert to have on the same page as that story,no? Very insensitive indeed.

Is this for real? has anyone seen the newspaper version to confirm? because what does that advert mean anyway? No-one ever wished they'd stayed in more, WTF?

It's their website news section, not the actual newspaper. And I agree, very very odd slogan.

I take it to mean, "You there, yes you, weekend warrior hell's angel fantasist. This (underpowered, overpriced) bike is so mean and intimidating, that no one will guess that you're a specky 9 stone accountant and they will really wish they stayed in, rather than straying across your path."

It is a gash and not very obvious slogan, mind.

No-one ever wished they'd stayed in more

The wording can be taken to mean two completely separate things:

1. No-one dies thinking, "I wished I'd stayed in with a good cup of cocoa and did less with my life." Buy a Harley & Get a Life!

2. That fella that got shot wishes he'd stayed in as opposed to going out & getting shot.

Thats what I took it to mean, its still a rubish slogan though.

Hah, I just realised it all depends on whether you stress "in" or "more".

at death's door..."No-one ever wished they'd stayed IN more".
or the less inviting
"No-one ever wished they'd stayed in MORE" (.....than this guy). Implying: own a Harley, and you won't ever want to leave the house, never mind ride it.

I would have demanded an italic "in" if that were my slogan

Isn't it a variation on the 'when they're dying, nobody wishes they'd spent more time in the office' thing?

And hey, we're talking about it so maybe these viral marketing types are operating on a whole intellectual level above us?

Nah.
