Default Who'd be up for.......?

After speaking with a number of people over the last few weeks, I've decided to propose a CONTROLLED (or is that "Managed") rideout. Someone even called it a "Bimble-out", but I don't subscribe to that, although I know what was meant by it.

The idea is to keep things organised but simple - as they should be.... oh dear - Rules!
  • Stick to the limits - 30 in a 30 etc, etc This doesn't mean dragging along a clear single carriageway "A" road at 40 either - Ride at a pace which suits YOU and the conditions.
  • No overtaking within the group. We can easily start off in different orders at each stop, giving people the chance to take varying positions in the group. We will have several short stops to regroup and a longer food & fuel stop.
  • Overtaking other, slower vehicles along the way is definately on. This should be at each riders discretion and only where safe to do so. No blind overtakes etc. Remember- you should be able to remain in control if conditions change.
  • Watch out for the rider behind. When changing roads or negotiating roundabouts, if you can't see the person behind, wait for them on the other side of the junction. This will mean a change of position within the group as you follow on behind them, but it's not technically an overtake and no-one should get lost. This allows people to ride slower if they want without worrying about being left behind somewhere to get lost.
I'm prepared to organise a route for this, but it will need to be soon to take advantage of our heatwave or rather before the snow comes! You can also bet that the route will go South of the Central belt, since it was commented that most of the (limited) rideouts also seem to have been to the North. Please make comments as to your preference of riding duration / mileage, since this will help in formulating a route, but first read the following.........

We'll meet at around 11 o'clock for a change, since there always seems to be those of us who are either rushing to get ourselves together, or just turn up late.

Cheers,
Garry

defo garry ,,after my 'off' im really starting again iv just not got faith to push the limit's of my (rather poor) riding skills ,,eh??? so a wee run would suit me fine ,,,i just get more '''oh ****'' moments than i used to .its all in my head ,,but its easy to say 'ill do this /that'when going slowly ,rather than too hot for the upcoming corner ,,good idea m8 ,,as the ecosse rideouts are/have a reputation as a bit of a crashfest (nothing major like ,but enough to put a newer rider off) but yeah ,,good idea ,,,and southernly ,,im fed up of /carbeth way/callander and the like ,good roads but it'd be good to go elswhere

Sounds cool!! Just yell me where and when - dont need the fag breaks but I'm all for the banter!! So long as we're back before dark I'm happy with any route. Cheers for organising it.

Seen as I haven't managed a rideout yet it has to be option 1.

No idea if I am slow or not slow. I don't think I am quick.

Confident enough I suppose. Competent...? Kind of feel that I am getting to

that point where I should do some more training/ tuition to see what bad

habits I have developed.

Need to get at least one in before the season is out.

So count me in.

Cheers

Hello Indy,

Good lad, get the route and a date you want to go, posted.
The last run was just under 200miles for me.
All depends on the type of roads but i would say 200 or so is more than satisfying.

Still waiting for Stuarty to post up his rideoot ???

A possible two big runs in one month for the Ecosse Posse???
