Default Fork Finish?

The forks on my curvey are the only part that let it down and have a nasty case of metal worm. The finish is as soft as fluffy ducklings on whipped cream.

Are there any solutions, short of a lot of elbow grease and a Loyboc.

How have you fettled yours?

Are the Pointies as bad as the curveys?

Cheers,
carl

Yep pointys are as bad the paint is rubbish, then again i had the same problem on a hornet, i took them off got a bucket of soapy water and rubbed them down with very fine wet and dry, then after drying and masking them i applied a few coats of quality primer followed by three coats of colour plus a couple of clear laquer over the top those babys are never corroding again

I originally polished mine but they still corroded where I couln't get at them with the autosol, so I primed them with hammerite and sprayed them matt black.

How did the laquer/paint stand up to stone chips?
I think the forks would look good the same colour as the bike! Maybe some clear Fablon over the paint to stop the chips would work?

Cheers, Carl

yeah i didnt seem to have any problems with stone chips but no matter what paint you put on there is always the possibility of them so some clear protective film of some kind could be just the ticket!

Polish them!

With a bit of effort they can look like these.
