Default The Blue Oyster Cult

Any other afficionados of this AWESOME and classic bock band?

I've had a bit of a night of them- Blue Oyster Cult, Secret Treaties and Imaginos. Imaginos is up there with my fave albums ever. And totally suitable music for the onset of autumn too.

Went to see them a few years ago- apart from probably annoying a few nearby peeps by jumping up and down a lot and singing along rather loudly, one of the best gigs I've ever been to. Even after more than 30 years, these guys still rock hard!!

I only know them through Metallica covering a song of theirs, but I really like it.

First gig I ever went to was Blue Oystercult, Manchester Apollo, 1986 or '87. Thought so at the time and still do: Absolutely fantastic gig!

Don't actually have much of their music, apart from "Don't Fear the Reaper" on virtually every compilation I own. Must dig out some more of their other stuff.

Well recommended. Their first 4 albums certainly- Blue Oyster Cult, Tyranny & Mutation, Secret Treaties and Agents Of Fortune (the Reaper Album). Classic stuff- very left field in places, but amazing. Obscure lyrics. A bit of a Lovecraft slant. Great guitar work by Buck Dharma. Just awesome.

Imaginos was considered a bit overproduced by some. But it was my first introduction to the band. My uncle brought it over with Led Zeppelin IV when I was about 17ish. 2 Albums that have totally written themselves on my soul forever! Imaginos isn't currently available in the U of K at the moment, but their albums are slowly going through a process of remastering. So, it'll probably turn up again.
