Hi all, well did an oil change yesterday and started the bike for the first time in 2 months, on top of that ive done a front cylinder head change.
Filled it up until it was in the middle of the sight glass (about 2litres out of a fresh 4litre bottle) and ran the bike for a good 30 minutes. Now the oil is nowhere to be seen in the sight glass. Has the oil just been evenly spread around the engine and needs topping up? Or is it something more sinister? Also noticed a small, weap, is all I can describe it as from the rocker cover gasket. Does it need time to seat properly or need totally re-seating? Any help appreciated, Cheers, Chris B. ![]() |

Cheers mate. I thought it was a bit strange that it had suddenly dropped off. But it has just distributed it around the engine.

The bike should take around 2400ml- it has that stamped on the engine case by the viewing window.
When I changed my filter and oil the other week it took around 3l for the oil to be up to where it should be in the window... |

Yeah, just as 21Quest said you've probably not put enough oil in, especially if you changed the filter too!
I had a look in my K3 (I see you have a pointy too) owners manul and it states: Engine oil, Without filter change: 2300ml --- With filter change: 2700ml. |

Cheers guys, just been and checked how much I put in and it was 2.3litres. DOH!
Well just topped it up and you were right Brian. Took another 500ml. Does anyone have any idea on the Rocker Gasket issue? Cheers, Chris B. |

Take the cover off and check it, sounds like the gasket is nipped in the side of the case or broken.
Also check the surfaces are clean and with no nicks or burrs or debris that could stop it from seating. Chris

Morning all.
Don't forget to pout a smear of silicone sealant around the half moon cut outs on the gasket. Cheers. |
