Default Another recommendation for Saltire...

I got a puncture on the way home last night, popped the tyre off but I don't patch them myself, so I fitted a spare and tied it to the back of the bike. Got to work, phoned saltire, "Can you plug my tyre" "Yes" "Can you do it today" "Probably" "OK, can you do it in my lunch hour today, so I can go to Aviemore on saturday" "Eh... Yeah, OK, we can wedge it in".

So I motored over, got there at 1:15, handed over the tyre and the wheel. They didn't want to patch it as there was a bit of carcass damage (which I knew about, but I don't know how to judge this stuff- but I found a 4mm drill bit inside the tyre when I took it off, that wasn't encouraging. So, they say, they'll plug it but they'd not recommend riding hard on it. Fair enough, I just wanted to get the last bit of life out of it. Lets have a new Strada instead.

10 minutes later, I has a new strada. The price fitted to the wheel (since I won't have time to do it myself) was £88. The cheapest I can find on the net was £77 for the tyre alone, and they fitted a new valve too. They did me free fitting, but it's only a fiver usually anyway.

Still not on commission, though I should be But that's really good. To be fair, they do know me in there so I tend to get good deals but they didn't know me from adam when they agreed to do the work. Top stuff.

For me it will be looking at the magnificent scenery.

Northy has to get that tyre scrubbed in so I hope he does take it easy.

Scrubbing in the new tyre OK, so it was scrubbed in before we got to Aviemore but it's a good excuse, shame to waste it.
