I had been dying to ride the cat and fiddle in the dry before winter sets in properlly. This Saturday i spent most of the day up there and to be honest it was damn quite, a fair few bike but next to no cars......GREAT, however this meant a lot of bikes doing seriously dangerous riding.
While I was up there (maybe 3 hours) 2 bikes came off. The first one a red bike (I say red as it was that much of a mess I couldn’t tell what it was) came flying past me in the opposite direction and I thought BLIMEY he going some.......next thing he's on the wrong side of the road and bouncing off the wing of a Jag with an old lady in it. He was fine and got up police were there in minutes, the old lady looked ready to have a heart attack and I rode on. Stopped in Macclesfield for 5 minutes and headed back onto the Cat and Fiddle to be stopped after about 3 miles by the same police who attended the other incident wand they said the road was close. I questioned this as the other incident was nearly cleared when i left but there had been ANOTHER more serious accident within 30 minutes??? Crazy, I hope all involved in both incidents recover well. Damn lovely road though and they keep on improving it. I drove the whole length of the A537 yesterday on the way home from a meeting and there was a team of roadworkers fitting biker friendly ARMCO to all the areas that didnt have it fitted. The also looked to be re tarmacing the first mile or so of the Buxton end of the A537 which was in desperate need of it. |

one of the accidents was a honda sp2 - think this is the one with the jag that you couldn't make out what the bike was.
he was 1 out of a group of 3 riders that were riding like there was no tomorrow!!! it's people like them that give the road a bad name! I was up there on the fazer and a mate on a zx636 who also saw the accident. In the pub at the top there is a sign saying "Ride like a k**b and you'll die"......some people just don't read it |

Should have met up, I was up there on my own ![]() There was some really silly riding going on, I have seen the poster in the bar though, donated by Ace Cafe or something along those lines. I read that poster he first time i went up, then had a right moment minutes after reading it and have had respect for the deceptivness of the road ever since.......getting to know it now (famous last words) |

Yep, I think there's a big TSM's-spine-shaped dent somewhere up there
