Default How do you remove the front wheel without a paddock stand?

Hi
does anybody have any tips on how to remove the front wheel, I need to replace the speedo sensor, can it be done with a trolley jack?
Is there anyway of using a rear paddock to do this job?
Thank you

You can do it by supporting the rear with a paddock stand then jacking under the engine to raise the front wheel off the ground. There's a thick flat spot on the bottom of the engine that works well for this.

(I'm assuming you have a pointy from your name!)

... and if you don't have a rear paddock stand you can jack it up in the same place using the side stand and rear tyre.

However this is very close to the balance point of the bike until you have the wheel out so you may need to hang some heavy stuff off the grab rail to help keep things stead. Bucket of sand, water or a bag of soil will do it.

Hi,I have used a jack placed just behind the oil filter (on the flat part of the underside of the engine) but find that if you lift it too high the bike is VERY unstable. So........I now physically life the front wheel while a mate places an axle stand under each of the forks - whi makes the bike very stable.
