Can it be done?

I have just got a work phone but I have 8 months to run on my current contract. Can I get out or am I stuffed?

AFAIK if you want out you have to pay the remaining months in a lump sum

Unless you can find a fault that gives you grounds for terminating the contract...

...then you are well and truley stuffed They have you now under ball and chain for the next 8 months!

Sorry scoobs, let me elaborate ... change down to the cheapest tariff your mobile network provider offers and then just let the contract run ... paying the monthly required amount (i.e. the cheapest package deal), and let the contract lapse ... but don't forget to give them notice in writing ... otherwise your contract will just run and run. No need to pay a lump sum, unless you really want to buy the contract out. Plus they'd probably charge you some admin fee as well.

Just the keep the phone as a backup (until the contract expires on it).

HTH,
Pete

Good luck, depends on who you're with. But usually (3 anyway) the incentive you get at the start is based on the value of the package you sign up to so you can't even reduce your package.
