Nice, Google fu or have you read them? Unsurprisingly I slept rather well and deeply last night :-) National Trust day I think, go see what we can see. I must continue my miniatures tour of Scotland again one weekend, highlands are a big place ;-) |

The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
And now for something... Completely different.
(At least for me anyway) Not even a spirit, I'm on a slightly more distinguished alcopop :-) http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...585d011ef7.jpg And my wife is drinking this one (even posher sounding) http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...824d43692f.jpg Cheers! |

Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Picked them up in Sainsburys, hadn't seen them before but they were on offer. Also picked up a selection of crabbies as I've not had them before either.
|
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Cool, I like anything with Elderflower, such a distinctive summer flavour.
I've tried various Crabbies, but I only like the original. Still it's good to experiment. |
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Last night I was designated driver, again, so I had a mocktail of really good quality ginger beer with a splash of lemonade, a good squeeze of real lime and a some Angostura Bitters over ice. Was actually very good, like a dark and stormy without the headache.

Oh it's on, I'm heading to the highlands :-)
http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...32606395d9.jpg First one was cu dhub, taste like alcoholic treacle toffee! Love it. |
The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Loch Lomond one was OK, little smoky but not much remarkable.
|
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Did you buy these online or from a shop?
Need to buy my wifes German cousin some minatures |
The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Macallan was surprisingly smooth, the bottle is remarkably ornate too with even a miniature cork :-) sweetness in there too
|
The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Mainly from the Gretna outlet when I was in Haltwhistle. But I buy online from either the whisky exchange or masters of malt. They've recently become my preferred supplier as they'll do custom samples of stuff that isn't normally miniaturised.
|
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Ok, I've got the whisky exchange in my favourites somewhere.
You'd quite like my wife's German cousin, him and some of his mates have a 'Whisky Club'. Once a month or so they get together and one each member brings a different malt. Then they choose which one to drink and they don't go home until its finished. Nice social drink with your mates. |
The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Nice! I might have to try and enlighten some of my colleagues. Transport is tricky being rural though.
Edradour was lovely and rich, fruity and smooth. Had it in Belgium before but nice to compare and contrast. |
The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Glengoyne is rather nice, last of the ten year olds. Rather more warming than the others,
|
The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Oops, glenmorangie was the last 10 year old for the current run. Aroma is rather light but the taste is almost dry. Not unpleasant, just different from a lot of the others.

Tomatin 12 YO was nice, fruity and peaty. One to remember (partially why I'm writing this :-))
|

Old poultney, label says robust with a hint of sea air. Didn't get any sea air, smell seems sweeter but full. taste, I'd go along with robust, but nondescript though I'm afraid. Still goes well with the dark chocolate though ;-)

Deanston 12 smells woody and makes me think of pine, I'm pretty sure no casks are pine but still... It made me think of it.
Strange how the olfactory organs evoke such strong memory recall (rightly or wrongly) maybe it's easier "data" to store with the memory, more unique than the stream of optical info we take in all the time.... Wait, I think I might've hit the tipsy mark ;-) Almost a dryness/bitterness to the taste. Peaty but pretty rich. Tastes like it should be darker in colour. Not bad though, if drink again if I saw it somewhere. |
The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Last one for tonight and by my count I've hit 10, Stronachie 12. Smells oaky, tastes OK but nothing stand out. Pretty mellow and easy to drink though which is often the sign of a good one. (In my limited experience)
Alright, I'm gonna shut up again for a while now. Have a good one everyone! |
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Curses, my plan for pancake breakfast was foiled, no eggs :(
Didn't have any bread for Sausages, beans and scrambled eggs (still no eggs) on toast so I ended up with.... Chips and mushy peas (go figure!) I was starving :) And here I am in work and already slightly bored ;) |
The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Beronia Crianza. If you like red wine try this one.
Moving on to St Mungo next. |
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
About to get on the outside of several Lambs and cokes. Cannot be bothered to fish anything more fancy out of the cupboard but to liven it up I can see the Ribena is at the front of the bottom shelf right next to the rum so I might sweeten things up a bit and coat my teeth in a dentist's nightmare. Classy.
|
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Rum & black yuuuck :)
|
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Ok, if we're mixing Ribena drinks tonight, here's my non alchofrolic tipple tonight.
Very nice it is too :p https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3916/...03e1c74a_c.jpgIMAG0378 by maviczap, on Flickr |
The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Hmm strawberries and cream (soda) sounds pretty nice. I liked the orange and cream soda from American soda, might have to try cream soda and Cointreau sometime.
Just pepsi max for me, back from cycling my lap, beat my record and de-stressed from work :-) |
The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
OK I lied, I got to bed and saw the two Glenfarclas ones that I didn't get round to. Had the 10 year normal one and refreshed my memory of it, fruity and pleasantly warm.
The 105 cask strength (60%) is ace, smallest taste neat and wow 😳 it's not as harsh as you'd imagine that concentration to be. Diluted to taste it is rich and has such an initial taste then tails off. Smooth and sweet. Perhaps nicer than the 10 year but I'd likely pick the 10 year again as it is such value for money and suits my taste well. Really pleased to have tried the 105 though as I'd wondered about it. |
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Had a couple of nice ales from Ringwood Brewery last night, Forty Niner and Boon Doggle. Lovely stuff!
|
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
If all goes well with this
http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...psfkttasup.jpg In a few weeks I'll be drinking a very hoppy IPA that comes in at about 55p per pint! Pete ;) |
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Bargain! Got somewhere cool to condition when the heatwave hits?
|
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
I've just found another use for the rum in the cupboard. Rum and raisin cupcakes for Togmie.

The brew went very well, I've hit about 73% effecincy so the finished beer will be about 6.3%! So 19 litres are working away, the second brew goes on as soon as this one's bottled up. Pete ;) |
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Nice :)
I know it's only a kit but have you tried any of the Brewferm Belgians beers? A bit more costly but lovely stuff! Just supping on a Raspberry (Frambose) beer now (5.5%) and will son tap into a nice trappist type (Grand Cru) at 8% |
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
I've not tried anything like that. Mrs BP likes fruit beers but it's not my cup o'tea.
I'm generally happy with a blonde summer ale, a hoppy IPA or a cider. Pete ;) |
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Rum and coke float. The float is caramel chew chew :smt106
|
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Now that sounds real nice!
|
Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Mrs T and I have just knocked over an Argie red wine, The Waxed Bat. Niiiice.
I'm now on Stella because it was on special in Goggy's Mini Market round the corner. |
