Macs get used by people into photography because most people compare 3 year old cheap computers to a brand new MAC costing 3 times as much, then go "look how quick it is". They also seem to be the sort of people that can do nothing that isn't stylish, so because MAC's are hip and trendy they are a must have.

PC's do everything MAC's can, that is a truth which is undeniable. The other way round is not. As to speed, bang for buck PC will win almost everytime... though I'm not into using a laptop for work that should be done on a desktop.

Incase you care, I have a friend who has a 450d a £400 laptop that does PhotoShop, and raw files just fine.

i bought a pakard bell laptop fot the daughter for christmas, £399 with photoshop on it and 4 gig of ram, not bad for the price i thought. ps not crashed yet on win 7.

I've run 7 since the release date, the single time it's crashed was when my sound card hardware failed, reverted to onboard sound and been fine since, must be a couple of years of 24/7 running now, only reboot to apply updates...

'Tis a huge improvement over XP and Vista, although I never had much hassle with Vista unlike a lot of folks...

Do I sense snobbery? Ah well, if you want to pay 300% the price of a same spec equipment then go for it... but those who know won't be impressed!

The only hastle I had with vista was very early on, it was dire slow transferring over a network, that got patched after a month, the main reason people slagged it of was due to the fact that on release date you were lucky to have more than 512mb ram on an average pc, so OFC it ran like crap

Yeah I didn't really word that to good.
Not being a snob, was trying to make a point that a 400 quid camera isn't high end

If this person had £1000s of camera kit and took thousands of images I'm sure they would upgrade swiftly to a higher spec
