I'm now having a bottle of Ayr Brewing's "Somerset Boab's Black and White". Known round here as "A Boaby".

Probably not something you can get everywhere but, if you've never had Boaby before, you should really try it at least once. You might like it.

A dark beer, strong liquorice aftertaste. A wee bit gassy. Short lived head. Quite nice though. I was pleasantly surprised with my first mouthful of Boaby and it hasn't disappointed since.

Same here.

I was going to try a sober month but fell off the wagon on day one. The way the rest of the month's gone I wouldn't be surprised if the wife stages an intervention. :D

Now onto Ayr Brewing Co's Jolly Beggars Amber Ale.

Notes on the bottle suggest a "floral nose" and they're not kidding. Won't be so flowery in the morning I'll wager. ;)

The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?

OK after the earlier post about whisky advent calendar I decided I might just assemble my own, select key ones I like for 10th, 15th and 20th and then my glenfarclas 1981 present from my sister for 24th. The other days to be randomly shuffled by my wife :-)

With the current selection I could (without duplication) start on November 19th but think I'll trim the selection down to the traditional 24.

Rather than sober for October it's more drunk for December ;-)

Complan, chocolate flavour. I've got to the stage where my appetite has shrunk so much that I'm just not getting enough calories so the occasional mug of Complan will help me get some protein and vitamins and with a bit of luck I'll start to feel hungry again soon.

Last night at a surprise fifty birthday party, Belgian Blue followed by Corona with Vodka and lemonade then finished off with Jack Daniels. Bit fragile today!!

Frijj strawberry after utterly wrecking myself on German beer during last weekend's stag do, destroying my immune system and letting in a stinking cold/chest infection that's hung around like a bad smell all week.

Peach Brandy.
Some of the finest homemade, typically around 65% abv.
A gift from a mate.

That sounds interesting Bill!
I'm on limoncello and coke tonight. Finally found some in Waitrose so decided to see how it mixes. I'm thinking 2 limoncello to 2 Cointreau and a can of coke would make a nice citrus mix.

Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?

I'd not seen this before, so I had to try it. :p

I can't show you the unnatural blue colouring, as I'd drunk the contents. I don't think its a good idea to drink 2 in one night :D

But I liked it, but then I have a very sweet tooth :)

This could get messy. Playing trivial pursuit, a shot per wrong answer.... Self fulfilling prophecy anyone? :-)

That's probably my favorite.
Much smoother than Jack Daniels and coke.

Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?

Yeah, it didn't have such a bite to it. I've not really had whiskey before so I bought a small sample pack. It had Teachers, Jim Beam, Famous Grouse and The Black Grouse in it. Still want to get VAT 69 because I've seen it in Band of Brothers.

Try Black Bottle if you can find it. A blend of 50% Islay malts and grain whisky. If you like Islay whiskies at blended prices. According to the internet, some Morrisons are selling it at £14 a bottle.
