They are great track pads - but people reading this note:- DON'T use them on a road bike!!! They are carbon based and need heat to work ... and yes they are phenomenal pads for track use

What can you do about peg height on the track?

My left hip is dodgy so cant bend my knee much without crazy amounts of pain, which mean my pegs (although not very often) touch down before my knee ever does which worries me.

I would say this is a sensible list - I totally ruined my pegs at a recent trackday and having a trailer was such a bonus come the end of the day! Tyre warmers would have been great too!

Cheers for all the useful input so far guys,:thumright:

Perhaps I should’ve mentioned what I’ve already got:
  • Titanium Scorpion can which I had dyno’d (see below) I think they had to change the jets but I think this was more to smooth things out??
  • Gone up one tooth on rear sprocket but maybe looking a 520 kit?
  • I’ve got a K&N air filter but was considering a BMC air filter, dynojet kit & then re-dyno’d??
  • R&G crash bungs (the main ones & exhaust, but was considering fork & swingarm protectors?)

I agree on the brake front, I think the wavey discs look bloody cool 8-) but I heard stories of them developing cracks?? So will just go for decent pads, a friend runs bendix carbon matrix on his CBR trackday bike, any good?
Tyrewise I was looking at Metzeler sportec M3’s or Pirelli supercorsa’s (am I right in thinking there are 2 versions of the supercorsa?) could I get the 2nd hand ones at club racing meets?
Levers & bars, will cheap pattern ones do as spares or is it an idea to get the folding ones?
I’m going to the NEC bike show, so gonna keep my eye out up there for a few bits & bobs.

Cheers

I would say after the suspension mods (make sure you have a decent set-up too), again don't waste your money on wavy discs etc. Get a noisy can and have it set up, plus do the cam swap, this gives you about 10% extra top end where you need it, and in tuning terms is the track mod to do.

Raising the entire bike would help... Dogbones in the rear, or better still a longer shock, or both, and the front end as tall as you can make it (ie, don't raise forks through the yoke, and if you're on too-soft springs, sort them out. Can you comfortably flatfoot the bike? When I got back on the bike after my fractured hip, I couldn't make the bend comfortably even with lowered pegs so I was using a higher seat for a while, that helped a little but it felt a bit odd.
