i dont know how much of a machanic you are, but i would think you would have to do some sort of repairs on your route
(unless you have 2 land rovers full of kit with you)

have you seen mundo enduro ?

yup & terra circa.

My mechanical skills are mainly: Oil/filter & changing the odd lever/pedal - so a bike desgined specifically for that terrain is what I'm after. Hence the bmw dakar. It's a bit more reliable.

Obviously if money was no issue it would be the yamaha xt660s Tenere.

Never done it but I'm sure I could replace a leaky gasket!

If I worry too much about all the "what ifs" then I'll just stay at home not doing anything - which is basically the last 4-5 years in my job!

Carpe diem (sieze the fish).

Good luck with this matey...

Not sure how relevant this is but...

We spent 4 months travelling around Europe in a motorhome last year...France, Spain, Portugal, S of France, Italy, ferry to Turkey, then back through Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria...etc..

Did 12000 miles, stayed in a campsite just about every night, didnt really skimp, went out for a meal every 2 weeks or so, most of the time just BBQing, including all ferries, tolls, campsite, spends, diesel avg 30mpg we spent 6k, including a 2 week holiday in Turkey, meeting up with family...

Now most of this isnt relevant however, just wanted to point out how easy it is to cross the borders in Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria etc...as long as you have the green card for insurance, its a piece of cake...there are odd costs at borders, but nothing major...

Romania incredible BTW...

Good luck!!

cheers 4 info!
