Keep the kids off the road I say, get them used to using public transport well before they get the option to have their own transport. They're a modern day plague.

Harsh.
I was fairly well used to public transport as I used it untill I was 16, was very grateful to get on the road after that.

I feel very sorry for people stuck with public transport, and think it should be avoided at all costs on account of it being a shower of $hite.

Public transport is the reason I got a 'ped when I was 16.

Admittedly though back then 'peds were only just coming back into vogue and public attitude was very different then today. However some of them may graduate up to bikes in a few years time and how will we treat them then?

But I digress. Mopeds do it and so do some bikers. I did it once, I over took a car indicating and turning right. I had a very, very near miss. I was 17 at the time and riding my TZR, I would never do it again. Everyone makes mistakes, its what you do after that counts but I am troubled by the attitude that some have taken.

Do they not teach the `Life Saver` anymore?
I found after my training (AHem 1994) they drilled the life saver into us big time.
After passing the bike test I found that I was more aware in the car and actually do check for bikes passing.
Granted the peds are a pain, but us bikers when in cars we should all be more aware of our buddies around us eh.
Keep it safe.

If you read my original post, I stated that there was something niggling me. the fact that the moped I knew to have been one car behind me was no longer there. I had done all the checks, confirmed that it was clear and was now committed to the right turn. At that point my observation was focused on looking into the junction I was entering. Not on looking over my shoulder to see if anyone had decided to overtake me in the 2 - 3 seconds since I had checked.

You can be as aware as you like. But when the prats do stupid manoeuvres like this one did, you just thank your lucky stars that they got away with it. The problem is that this idiot probably never even realised just how close he came to being wiped out.

Well done for your sixth sense, even though the guy sounds like he needs someone to take him off and teach him a lesson! Would have made a nasty mess of your car door though. If you weren't a biker yourself he probably would have been off, cagers don't have the same sixth sense.

No it's not - it's the fact that kids will not accept that anyone even slightly older has a clue, and they always know better. 16 year old kids are invincible, and everyone else is an idiot, just ask a few and they'll all say the same thing, if you can understand a single word from the drug induced garbled crap they spout. Cast your mind back to when you were 16 and how you viewed anyone over the age of 25.

They don't "pass" CBT, they complete a course of instruction and get a certificate to say so. There is a difference. If it was a test they'd have to be issued with a full licence pass certificate, if they had passed.

i see this everyday in london,

people that ride a scoot, but havent a clue....

see some pople actually ride properly, some at a 'progressive pace' others slow and moderate, using what they know and have been taught to be aware and avoid contact with tarmac or car! these people are teh type that gradute to a bigger bike, teh others ar e just idiots that ride like they are invincible, yep that suits gonna save your skin, and open face helmet? hope they dont go down face first, oh and they are normally on vespas teh new ones!, when i ride my scoot i do ride it a bit ragged, but i always do my lifesavers, and never in a million years would i overtake a car INDICATING to go right.

funny, i have seen a clip on youtube of a guy do this on a scoot...past...an old bill car, they pulled him, turned out one of tehm was a biker, he proper bollocked him, too right n all!
