Re: 2000 sv650s redline
Could be that your front sprocket is loose or over worn.

Re: 2000 sv650s redline
may need an adjustment on the clutch cable maybe or a new one. If its going when you pull it in it sounds familiar to mine?
and what Grinch said. I seem to remember a certain YorkieChris psyching himself up to have a good wrench on the front sprocket nut, only to fall on his ass because it were loose and was near to falling oof |
Re: 2000 sv650s redline
I have just been out and removed the sprocket cover. the sprocket is not worn at all. I have however noticed that it as solid metal. no rubber on it that i could see. could this be the noise. Have adjusted and checked clutch cable

Re: 2000 sv650s redline
Does have a rev limiter, can be hit in first gear very easily! Don't tend to hit it much though because after about 9500 revs it just seems to vibrate more and not actually go much faster! :bounce: Better to just change up.

Re: 2000 sv650s redline
Sounds ok to me too, all SV's have a rev limiter so don't worry about that either (cuts spark to one cylinder). Just get out and enjoy it....

Re: 2000 sv650s redline
Redline's at 10'500rpm and the rev limiter cuts in at 11'200rpm. I know, mine's bounced off it quite a few times (usually when I go for an overtake and the bike's already revving hard - give the car driver a wakeup call).

Re: 2000 sv650s redline
Well another few hours spent tinkering with the bike in the hope that would cure the whine. Quite obviously not. Its off to a mates workshop tomorrow to work in the dry and under the watchful eye of some1 far more experienced than myself. I'll keep posted whats found, if anything.

Re: 2000 sv650s redline
I have got a 20002 curvey that has exactly the same symptoms you describe, and previously I had a 99 one which didn't make the same noise. My 02 bike has only got 11000 on the clock as well!
I've recently changed my zorst and it made no difference, also changed the oil and checked the cam chain tensioners and the chain tension/lube is fine. I'm wondering if it could be induction noise? It sounds to me like it's from the front end. |
