Oh and history ... what sort of stuff do I need to know about ... like I remember the battle of Hastings was in 1066, but little more ...

I could probably waffle a bit about the barter system, but again, I can't remember when in time that was rife (gonna google now 8))

cool, ta ... what does she think to my level of stuff I'd like to teach them ... does she thing that if it is all done via demo, not just talk and chalk {yawns} I could get them to understand?!!? :)

Click on 'search for pupils work' at the top. She says pupils will be working towards level 2A/3.

She thinks you may be going in a bit high level. She suggests making parachutes and seeing which shape is best, maybe time on a stopwatch for them to hit the ground etc? She liked the idea of the plasticine boat though!

I'll do the boat one first and if they look to be a bit lost with that one will ditch the other stuff and do the parachute experiment 8)

I've only had an initial ganda, but those websites are corkers ... I was wondering if I started up how I'd know what was in the syllabus, that even tells you exactly what to do!! Basically as long as I genned-up the night before using that website I'd be in a pretty good position to know exactly what I need to teach in each class!! 8)

The teacher I voiced my concerns with said it is kinda natural when you are actually with the kids not to say anything like that!! ;)

I really don't know how involved I'll be, but I DID want to go in there with some idea of what sort of things the kids might be learning and a little bit of prep if I was put on the spot in front of the 20 little retches!! ;)

As I said until now I didn't even know how old they were gonna be ... talk about in the deep end :oops:

You'll be fine. Just be yourself and I'm sure I don't need to tell you but be firm if you need to be! Mum is quite strict but all the kids love her as they know where they stand. She even has ex-pupils who are now thugs in their mid-twenties calling her Miss, I stand there bricking it, while she tells them to get their act together!!! anything else you need just ask (although I'm away all weekend).

Re a syllabus I think if you google Key stage 3 syllabus/national curriculum you should be able to find something of use.
