However, before you rush out and buy the non expandable i-phone, have a look at the new Sony X1. Its due out later this year, and looks pretty smart.

Myself, i'm wiaitng on a good old Candybar 6220 Classic. It has everything i need plus i dont have to sign up to an 18 month contract which you will with the i-phone, and i suspect the batteries will be pretty dead by that time if i-pods are anything to go by :(

Its still another design classic from the fruit farmers :)

I'll have a look at it and see how it compares :)

Well if it's £100 with a contract I reckon the PAYG version will be expensive. Plus you can't use it with anything else apart from an O2 sim......unless you get it unlocked.

I can't believe this actually made the news yesterday. Every hour on the radio, the newsreader was wittering on about a new phone being launched. Ok, if The Gadget Show tells me about it, fine, but THE NEWS???

You're listening to the wrong radio station then LOL Rock FM Manchester didn't even mention it ;)

Nope...:
- It's Apple.
- Unmodifiable.
- Any extras will be expensive Apple branded.
- Any games/applications will all be Apple ones and will most likely cost extra.
- I'm not a sucker for Marketing.

(However I've already got the LG Viewty!!!)

- It's Apple. - well spotted
- Unmodifiable. - What do you want? Neon lights? My N95 isn't exactly modifiable
- Any extras will be expensive Apple branded. - Apple products are supported by so many third-party companies. My Sony on the other hand isn't even supported by Sony! The competition and universal ports keep costs down
- Any games/applications will all be Apple ones and will most likely cost extra. - It's been opened up to developers so quite the opposite. Anyone who knows apples will know the free aftermarket software market is unrivalled
- I'm not a sucker for Marketing. - The LG is one of the most heavily advertised phones out there! ;)

I'm not picking on you, but the one thing that annoys me more than a smug-mac-owner (and that's tough to beat;)), is people who are so against Apple just not to conform. Their products are excellent, hence why they dominate the market.

I would argue that their marketing is excellent. There are products on the market that are just as good and can be had for less money but Apple have the image.

At least there are sensible people out there:) !! At last a radio station that doesn't give me headache.....I choose to ignore the fact that I must have missed the news bit on it LOL

Don't get me wrong! Nice phone but lets compare similar things here

(However I've already got the LG Viewty!!!)

It's the attention to detail on Apple products that makes them special. I've currently got an O2 XDA Orbit, with Windows Mobile and the usability is frankly rubbish. Just to give an example of just one of the issues I have with it - you can enter birthdays for people you know, but there's no integration between Contacts and Calendar. So birthdays don't show up in the Calendar and you won't be given reminders about them. This lack of attention to detail and proper integration is just one of the reasons that I hate Windows Mobile.

I'd be very surprised if the iPhone is as badly thought out as this, given Apple's obsessiveness with usability. O2 are doing it on a £30/month contract and I've just registered my interest. I'm due for an upgrade from O2 this month anyway.

The things i dont like about the i-phone

The battery is integral, so you have to get it replaced when it fails.
The memory is not expandable ( i know you can get a 16mb version, but i would use it as a music player more, and i neeeeeeeeed MB's ;))
The camera is a lowly 2mp not good for a state of the art phone
The battery life is ok, but not great
Its quite big in comparisson
It hasnt got push email
Its on an 18 month contract!

I like
The interface
The look

The battery life is ok, but not great - So is with my Nokia E65, N73, E61 and any Symbian or WM phone these days
Its quite big in comparisson - To what? the HTC phones? It's light though
It hasnt got push email - You get free internet though so you could possibly access the websites of your email providers?
Its on an 18 month contract! - erm yeah that's the downside for me as well

I like
The interface
The look

Re: New 3G iPhone - will you get one?

I'm more partial to HTC products because they can allow me to do more, with all the free software thats out there.
Watching films on my orbit is easy and available anywhere ( and free ;-) ), not too sure about Apples i-phone.
Even so my orbit is old now it's still a bloody good phone, where as with the i-phone I can see myself getting fed up with it.
I do like the interface alot and the way it browses the web, but other than that I think it's far too useless and expensive.
When I can afford to upgrade, the i-phone will not be making my short list that's for sure.
