I had an acer laptop, mine came with recovery disks. If he uses them , it will go back to factory settings and his current setup will be lost.
Get him to bung your work IT guys £20 and ask them to back up his data, install Windows with the partition sizes he wants...everyone is happy! Chances are they will do it instead of proper work! |

If there is no data on F & D, delete them, resize C to required size, create D from whats left. If there is (was) data on either F or D then as he's been playing around there's a good chance thats now corrupt (and the C drive may be as well) it may be worth doing as suggested, start from scratch with fresh install etc
