If he finishes the season in the top 6 I think it will be safe to say that its been a successful one, at least for learning the GP tracks. I have to say though that he has competition for newcomer of the year in Lorenzo & Dovizioso.

Although they've come from 250s which have much more in common with GP bikes than superbikes do, so not a fair comparison.

No I agree, experience of tracks etc however I would say that Lorenzo out of all 3 looks to be the most promising of them.

Oh and well done to Scott Redding, missed the 125s as I was out (usually watch them) so havent seen the race but a great acheivement and I bet he was chuffed to bits!

JT just allowed himself to get suckered in to trying to put on a good show for the home fans. No shame in that, just sympathy that it all went so wrong so early for him.

I am going to disagree slightly Rob. Dovizioso on a satelite bike is showing in reality equally as much as Lorenzo. Given the reverse opportunity I would see the young Italian doing as well if not better than Jorge as he would likely as not fallen as often.

Someone please let Supervox know that I am singing the praises of his boy here.

No I could not do better than JT but I would not have lobbed it on the first bend however Im sure I would still have taken longer than he did even taking the fall into account. Respect to him for picking it up we all know he is a fighter and does have what it takes, he just needs to dig in and find it again.

As for the comment earlier about paying and not being happy I bet half the crowd go in the hope they get to see some crashing action!

Pete I see your point and think that Dovi has performed marvellously with the machinery that he has, however just looking at Lorenzo's early season form (before he started believing his own hype and falling off) and the weekends performance shows him to be a real star in the making.
Wasnt it Jerez where he was putting in some unbelievable lap times, completely wiping the floor with everyone else?

Alas no one really proves themselves until a few things go wrong for them. All part of Lorenzo's learning curve. In fairness he has never previously been too much of a crasher.Perhaps he began to think this Moto GP lark was a piece of p*ss?

Yep he was pretty impressive in practice at Jerez for sure.

So did JT get one point for finishing 17th out of 18?
How does that work? I thought first place was only 20, 16 for 2nd so how do you still get points for 17th (that's less points than 16th) :???:

Well I did pay and I was "propper" gutted but not because of the lack of a show. MAN the crowd loved him when he cam round after the race. Amazing that he got back on and run the race with no right hand peg or back brake and half the front brake leaver missing...

Does 'wat a nob' take into account his effort in getting back on the bike and at least riding the track? I'd think most of his fans would have a level of respect for him just being able to do that.

Could you do better? I know I couldn't.

Well said.

Indeed like the rest of us you would have failed to Qualify and hence wouldnt have been in a position to crash it on the first corner of the race. ;)

I think the points go down to 15th... which is 1 pt. :( So he got nothing... Thats why its such a testament to his character to get back on and ride the bugger.
