Sorry Durbs, totally invalid.

Its not the job of police to prevent crimes - there are not enough of them for that.

Their job is to deal with the crime-de-jour, and to make certain figures look better, I was told as much when I asked a cop in the street (a rare sight, I thought that they only exsisted in cars or police stations these days) if something was going to be done about the number of cyclists who run red lights.

He wasnt interested and even went so far as to say nothing would be done as its not a priority.

So even reporting that at a certain area there is a common occurance of a crime is not interesting to them.

The fact is that due to politically correct policies, people who should not be police are allowed and even encouraged to be police.

Does seem a bit of a balls up by some incompetent front counter assistant/PCSO, and you were right to go back to the nick and give the Sgt a hard time over it, perhaps they will ensure the right person gets a kick where they need it. Did you get the name of the officer who took your details this time and have you retained the copy of the rectification form they sent you with the summons?
Despite the irritation this has caused you I'm not sure it justifies the assassination of an entire profession as some on here seem to advocate.....

Dont get me wrong the PC who stopped me in the first place was fine and i had a good crack with him. They PC i spoke to today at the station was also fine. It was all the fault of the PCSO who didn't fill in the correct forms to say i had produced.

This was my first ever producer so i went with the producer, licence, V5 and insurance , she took them off me photcopied them and sent me on my way. I just presumed this was the norm.

Why has it taken nearly 6 months for them to contact me. why not contact me 4 weeks after and say we have still not recieved your producer can you please pop in with your documents and all this could have been avoided.

If that question is asked in a serious arena (eg, court), be prepared for the stock North Wales repsponse to be sent:

"We actually did send the documents you mention, as evidenced by our system on <insert date here>. We do not have to provide any other evidence of postage, and proof of postage (which our records constitue) is legally deemed as proof of receipt. We cannot be held accountable for the actions of the postal service."

(Can you tell I've heard that one a few times?)

It sounds to me like the justice syatem and a few coppers have got a real problem against bikers. I know some bikers are complete to55er5 and deserve everything the get but my bike is insured every year, taxed every year, i am fully licenced, i have not got any other motoring convictions, i have never had any accidents of any sort, I can drive HGV LGV car bike and do roughly 35,000 miles a year. If i was a n0b head then surley the police would have come accross me before now.

Maye a little common sense wouldn't go a miss here. Even a simple reminder would have aroused a suspition that something was wrong but to go staright o a court summons. ONE WORD JOKE!

I wouldn't say the system or coppers (well maybe a few) have anything against bikers in particular, it's just the red tape attitude and complete lack of common sense or personal touch that has crept into the regime. As you say, anybody worth their salt would have looked at the file, realised you must have come into the station to have given in the rectification form, checked the computer for your license and insurance (why were you required to produce them in the first place, this info is readily available at the time they stopped you) and just filed the papers in the corner basket. It just needed someone to make a decision....and that is the problem.

PCSO's; honestly, a waste of money and uniform.

+1

There is a large soddin book they should have filled in and made you sign. Not rocket science but as BP says PCSO are a waste of time and ain't proper coppers for a reason.

Altho we have civvies do the producer, so that says it all.

Feel for you dude :(

I feel sorry for PCSO's I really do. They do a job which they get paid a ridiculous amount for but are completely undermined as they have no powers. Some are very good at the limited role that they perform. Some are complete numpties who cant even perform the simple tasks they are given

The role should be scrapped altogether and all of them given the option to apply to join the Police through the standard system, no concessions.

I agree, there are some good PCSO's out there but there are some very bad ones. Mostly bad. They have no power and the youth of today just use this as a tool and rip the S**t out of the poor guys and in turn make a mockery out of the police service.

I know the Government fund them but I say spend more money on coppers. Specials do a much better job for nothing, they have the power to act on what they are told or what they see.

Well it's like any job these days isn't it. Look around your office/workspace/colleagues and I'd put good money on around 15%-30% of them being ********s or crap at their job... Having said that I'm self employed and work on my own so I must be the office tit

If you get a summons for "Failure to produce" and you go to court with the defence "I did produce and here are all my documents from the time I was asked to produce", I'm sure they'd throw it out. I'd also ask how you're going to make up for losing a days wage, especially with the credit crunch... So, get legal advice and in future, make a note of all pcso/pc/desk seargeants numbers & names - then when it all goes tits up you can point out exactly who's fecked it all up for you.

Good luck & whomp some ass!
