Aye, their has been a few threads on here recently about people having issues after a dealer encounter. More of an encouragement for people to start wielding spanners!

Yeah, personally I don't see how anyone can entrust their life to some stealership.

+ 1, the SV is an easy bike to spanner and a great bike to learn on. With the guidance of a Haynes or Cylmer manual a newbie could get a lot done by themselves.

Can advise that a 4 magnet rotor in any sender solves this problem. Although it is advisable not to over torque the front axle shaft when tightening it against the sender unit.

Btw a 4 magnet rotor collects 8 bits of magnetised dust (either side of each magnet) and (yes) an 8 magnet rotor collects 16 bits of magnetised dust.

Hey guys,

I replaced my rotor unit yesterday from a K7 model, mines a K3, after reading this now I know why I was doing 230kmh into work this morning!

If I replace the magnet part with the old piece (though there's only 3 sides of it left?)will that sort me out or is it the unit itself that needs to off the same era?

Cheers!
