;)

I know! Its crazy, these mega-reliable, mechanical things which do such a wonderful job of keeing my bike running.

My dad has his FI light come on his GSXR the other day for no reason whatsoever, stayed on for a good few hours. Got home, poked about, couldnt find anything wrong, started the bike up, no FI light. Whats that all about?!

a dash of the stuff when topped up will be fine, a bit like adding dressing to your salad :D

Someone wittier than me mentioned a while ago "A little Pro FST sorts out carb icing on the curvy, but I've yet to find anything in a bottle you can add to make the pointy look good"

Quote Of The Day award goes to Jambo, for pointing out something that is, in hindsight, quite obvious :smt082

unless it's cold obviously, or if the jets get clogged, or if the bike ends up on it's side and the float bowl empties into the engine???;)

and who said anything about curveys??? blimey, getting a rise out of curvey owners is like shooting fish in a barrel;) - they must secretly know their bikes are inferior:smt082

Cheers guys, 100 ml it is then. Thanks for the idea of a better bottle, I was just thinking the plastic bottle might leak...I''ll get something from the camping shop this weekend :D

Here's to a smooth-running winter's worth of riding

*swigs some of northy's vodk......ah.*

I think PRO FST is quite corrosive. I know the guy where I buy it from always opens the cap to release the pressure whilst it sits on his shelf, so not sure if a thin plastic bottle would last too long. I already had a small Sigg bottle from my camping days so used that. However they are expensive and I bought a "Sigg" bottle from a pound shop, in the fastest colour, but have never used it for PRO FST.

Or got to Halfrauds, buy a small trial bottle of 'Redex' and put it in your bike. Then keep that bottle for you ProFST, worked just fine.

Or in the winter start using 97 RON fuel, its easier then carrying the FST and it kind of works out cheaper. Its about 10 quid for a bottle of FST, so 10 treatments. So a pound a time, where as 97 RON fuel is about 5p a litre more. So 70 pence.
Its easier to get hold of and you can swap and change as you need it, as its only really need when the air drops to betten 3-5c, and is rather damp in it to.

I never had the need for 100ml per tank, my bottle lasted quite a while. ;-)

I can also confirm that the Silkolene proFST solves the carb icing problem! I had some problems with my 2001 SV650S concerning losing power / stuttering in cold conditions, this is now all gone, with 100 ml proFST pr. full tank. The effect is incredibly clear!
