Re: A few questions from a newbie
Also, can someone tell me the "K" number of my bike. It's an 03 model on a 52 plate (i think). It can be seen in the ebay link. Cheers,

http://www.steves-motorcycles.co.uk/...s-k3-right.jpg The one you have just bought is most likely a '01 or '02 model and making it either a K1 or a K2. The best thing to do is see what it says in the service book (pink sticker) or read the chassis number. The odd thing is that your SV has the early clutch cover (two part)... http://i11.ebayimg.com/06/i/001/0c/a1/de3b_1.JPG This is the later type below (even though this is an injected engine it has the same basic components as the later Curvy, note the sold one piece cover and no bolts around the clutch).... http://www.maximumhits.com/sv650s/art/engine.jpg |
Re: A few questions from a newbie
I thought all the curvy's had the two part cover, certainly my googling of 2001 and 2002 models shows them to be with the two part.
Where there some late K2's with the one piece cover? Druid |

Re: A few questions from a newbie
Wouldn't surprise me that they started to use parts from the 'new' SV early as the bit's are a straight swap. I've not really seen any 2002 bikes though so I was just going by googling for 2002 SV650 images. Of course it could just be that I was seeing 2002 american bikes which might have all still had the two part (and might have even all been K1's)[1]
Druid [1] The manufacturers do some strange things, for example my model of VFR (88/89 FJ/FK) wasn't available in the US despite the previous and later models being available. They just sold the previous model for those two years. |
