I wish people would learn to read round here.

James has already said in the first post that he has a curvy which means an SV 99-02. So post 2 goes on about if a pointy then ECU. Plowsie asks what bike is it etc.

Post 2 was posted before Post 1 was edited.
I wish some people would learn to do some investigative detective work around here before going off on one, throwing their weight around and generally being grumpy ;)

Yes but James also said his missus was doing her test this afternoon on a 125. So you also ask if she is doing her direct access.

Sorry mate. Not having a dig at you personally. I just seem to be seeing quite a bit of people ignoring the blindingly obvious in my life at present. At least you now appear to be wise to the fact that there is no such legal document as a restriction certificate. Nobody can force you to prove a bike is restricted etc

DA can be done on a 125...

Direct access needs to be done on a bike of something like 46bhp. So either you've got an absolutely bonkers race rep 125, or you do the normal thing and do it on a GS500 or similar...

There are 2 methods of restricting the curvy. The suzuki kit is carb slides which have a hole in them. I believe TSM did a write-up of those on the main page re fitting or removal?

The other kit is a pair of washers made by FI international (the robbing, useless tw4ts) which sit under the carbs. On the curvy SV the kit actually works, which is more than can be said for most of the tat they produce. It is also easier to fit than the suzuki genuine kit.

Not necessarily.

Direct access

After taking CBT and the theory test, the practical test may be taken on a motorcycle with a power output of at least 35kW. A pass allows you to ride any size of bike. All or part of the CBT course may be taken on either a learner bike or a large bike. You may practice for the practical test on bikes larger than the learner bike specification provided:
  • you are accompanied at all times by an approved instructor on another bike and in radio contact
  • you are accompanied at all times by an approved instructor on another bike and in radio contact

Accelerated access

Riders who reach the age of 21, while still within the two year period where they are restricted to maximum 25 kW machines, but who wish to ride larger bikes need to pass a further test on a motorcycle of at least 35 kW. They may practice on bikes over 25 kW under the same practice conditions for direct access riders. You will revert to learner status while practicing (on a motorcycle greater than 25 kW) although test failure will not affect your existing licence.

Though it is probably (most definately) quite impossible to get a 35kw 125cc

See my post above ;-)

It's quite possible, have seen a TZR that would do that, but you'd need to stop for a rebore halfway through the test. Not really practicle.
