Amazing never knew it, yet so obvious when you think about it

"Now, when I say a little over the limit, she swears she was doing less than 35mph, in 30mph zones."

She wouldn't of been flashed if that was the case. Almost all cameras trigger points are set to 36MPH, IIRC. Factor in the amount the vast majority of speedos over-read by and she'd of seen at least 37/38 on the clocks to get flashed. ;)

That out of the way, as a new driver, she is looking at two lots of 3 points and hence a ban. I suggest she contacts a lawyer who specialises in this if she wants any hope of being let off with regard to a ban. Which, given her circumstances, it has to be said, she has an extremely good chance of if she went to court. Courts are notoriously lax when it comes to females' motoring offences. :)

Not a ban. Retaking test.

she might as well book her driving test now.

Neio, you're assuming an awful lot there mate. She went past two arrive alive vans. One of which was playing hide & seek at the time! These also weren't on the same stretch, just both in 30mph zones. They were a good 40miles apart!

As for the comments regarding the camera's flashing, that was my point to her. She says the second definately hasn't flashed (she was in a line of cars too, so even if she was caught by this camera, chances are it hasn't got her numberplate). I'm not sure if the first one flashed or not TBH.

i reckon even higher, although maybe not N Wales. There's one here on the otherside of the road that i sometimes set off going towards it, but not usually unless I'm doing at least 43.

Independantly verified (not that I don't trust you guys, obviously).

Thanks for that, loosing the licence would make life very difficult, but I reckon she could cope with only a couple of weeks holiday.

I'll pass on the news in the morning. :)

If all else fails a little revenge would do.

Quote:

“Four youths from Canberra, Australia pulled off a trick of breathtaking bravado in order to gain revenge on a mobile speed camera van operating in the area.
Three of the group approached the van and distracted the operator’s attention by asking a series of questions about how the equipment worked and how many cars the operator could catch in a day.
Meanwhile, the fourth musketeer sneaked to the front of the van and unscrewed its numberplate.
After bidding the van operator goodbye, the friends returned home, fixed the number plate to their car and drove through the camera’s radar at high speed – 17 times. As a result, the automated billing system issued 17 speeding tickets to itself.”
