Ive got one solar panel on my shed roof charging an old bike battery for my radio, and another charging a fluorescent light in the shed (NEVER gone flat even in Winter!)

Re: Solar Powered trickle charger

I've just ordered a big(ish) solar panel for my shed lighting and such, got a 5W one off ebay. hoping that will keep a car battery topped up for running my lights and perhaps a security light (also LED based)
the bulbs are only 1w so even 5 of them shouldn't drain it quicker than it can recharge. (based on the fact it will only be used for a few minutes each day)
I suspect most bundled solar panel devices are based on constant summer sunshine, I went for the larger one so that it will collect some energy on dull days too.
