I have a spare printer that you could borrow - it's a HP Color Laser Jet 2700n - but getting it to you might be a problem:confused:. Don't spose you're ever in S'bury?

Lol if it wasn't something I actually bought myself then yes a hammer would most certainly be the answer and would surely solve the problem :D

tbh, lexmarks always do this.

Nope, just the Z series.

MYC, close your ears for a second if you don't want confusing. :) The Z series drivers have a couple of issues, the most notable one is memory handling - which causes this issue. It tends to happen more on laptops purely because of the specialised way in which Windows deals with memory (page file specifically) for laptops. I've had the same in a normal PC though. The problem essentially is that it never releases part of the page file, and reloads it incorrectly when required.

Anyhow, that's getting a little indepth for a problem that's now fixed. Never had any issues with my X series though (1160), other than it running out of ink & the ink aint cheap!

The Z series though has had this problem since they were first released, lexmark couldn't be bothered to fix it, which is why they started shipping them at such low cost.

So MYC, in future, don't be fobed off with new USB cables or new printers, just stick to the free solution of re-installing the driver. Doesn't matter if you use the lexmark website or the CD for the driver - the problem will re-occur eventually.
