the rule is if you slip on the way to get on the bike someone is trying to tell you something...

That's how I broke my hip! As warning shots go that's a wee bit overkill tbh

That's a fair point but it didn't stop me!
Just go nice and slow and lots of engine braking plus back brake not front and feet dragging as soon as you feel it's a bit slippy.
Filtered past a nice police man in his car today (moved over for me) still had to ride in that awful sludge.
Journey took around 40/45mins compaired to the usual 15/20mins

Glad you didn't get too much damage anyway and take care if you are using your bike.

well it stopped me, a racing certainty that a visit to A+E would've defo been on the cards. so nicked the car off the wife slid through a main junction and thought thats enough of that and walked back home.
comforting thought is the day i refuse to go on the bike i cant make it by car either.

Sorry to hear your news Drew at least it was a minor .

At the moment I 've got option to borrow sons car as he's at Uni . Rule of thumb if I have to scrape ice off car then take car , as have to move car to get bike out of garage.
Glad I did this morning , had to stop car when freezing rain completely froze up screen and could see nothing

Cheers Steve

I can't understand people that go out on the bike on ice. It's just begging for an off

Pillock Drew!!

Going out in this sort of weather really hightens the senses and hones your ability to feel and see grip, that's just as long as you can avoid it or at least avoid falling off!

Went out Friday, Saturday and Sunday and although I found myself spinning up the rear a few times along with backing it in to a few corners (oh, and the crazy drivers who wanted to not see or hear me!), it was a right hoot!

Were lucky down here in the south west as it rarely snows and it doesn't seem to get as cold!

Regards

Sorry to hear that mate.

However, and I'm not being preachy, I would not recommend you go out on a bike on days like this. (Too late maybe?)

I know we all have to work for a living and I'm sure some people are not as secure in their jobs as others. But realistically, is trying to get to work worth the potential of serious injury or worse?

I was lucky today. I have a car and arrived at work just before the snow arrived, so all I had to deal with was frost. Others today have not been so lucky, and that's putting it mildly.

Work is only work. You are irreplaceable and that's an understatement.

Take care out there eveyone and don't spoil Christmas for yourself or familly.

Harsh words, but I mean well,

Pete
