It`s a xmas present for my son so I can`t really wait but thanks anyway, the new version does sound good!

He`s asked for a Nintendo DS but hasn`t said which one and he`s now away at sea. If the Lite is smaller but the screen size is the same i`m guessing it`ll be easier to carry backwards and forwards when he goes away so will have a look at that one.

You will not be able to buy a DS new - they stopped making them.

Also its hard to get accessories for the old one now - so get a DS Lite.

I thought I saw some in HMV? maybe I was mistaken. I`ll go for the Lite then.... they have some tidy carry cases on ebay for them too. Is it safe to buy the games from ebay???

Games from Ebay should be fine :)

You could always get a DSi in from Japan - it seems the consoles are not region encoded.

Wouldn't be able to use backed up games tho.......

Just noticed however that the Guitar Hero game doesnt work as that uses the GBA game slot that was removed from the DS Lite to make the DSi

So probably best to just go for the DS Lite :)

Many thanks :D guitar hero is one of the games he`s asked for, dunno why cos he already has it for his xbox... can`t see how it`d work on the DS, don`t you need a guitar thing?

Hmm just re read your post, are you saying the guitar hero won`t work at all on the DS Lite?

I think what SK is saying is that guitar hero wont work on the DSi if you got one from japan but it will work on the DS lite

Ah right, many thanks..... why can`t the youth of today just be happy with a bag of chocolate coins, a selection box and a tangerine :D
