Any wear/slack in this side of the mechanism tends to manifest itself as a clutch adjustment problem. When me and Grinch left a thrust washer out that should live behind the clutch basket it essentially moved the clutch toward the worm drive, throwing all the adjustment out.

OK that sounds logical to me. I have not done this no. I guess thinking about it this is a possibility and the fact that when the bike is at rest and lent over, this could be the clutch sliding back in place and thus taking up the slack again? Certainly something for me to check if nothing else.

I was going to suggest that your spring might be missing that pulls the cable back through but I had second thoughts thats a sh*t reason. Never mind

Have you checked the cable itself? May be on the way out.

The cable is relatively new. If it were the cable I would not expect it to stretch and then shrink back again (after all, the cable is steel) which if it were the cable, would have had to happen.

I have yet to go back out and check out the clutch basket nut. Probably wont get a chance now until The weekend. Would I really get away with doing bike maintenance over Christmas? Hmmm.

If anyone else has any suggestions as to what it could be, I am all ears.

End of the cable jumped out of the threaded end then dropped back in?

Good call, but no.

Bobble on the end of the cable not seated in the end of the worm drives arm properly (same idea... different place...)

Now you've adjusted it twice, what's it doing now?

On about a badly worn pushrod, I'd be tempted to replace the lot (all 3 parts), or at least inspect them.. I have spares if you need them.

Sorry to deviate but I noticed people talking about the sv creeping forwards in first with the clutch pulled in if you use fully synth, before my crash mine used to do this quite a bit even with semi synth v-twin putoline, my mate reckoned the clutch plates were sticking when cold but I'm sure it did it even when warm. Are their any other causes?

Bad clutch adjustment or warped plates. You do a lot of traffic light GP?

You may have possibly read that, but not on this thread.
