Re: kick and thrill?
I end up carrying a rucksack whenever going to work so weekend rides are definitely a weight off my shoulders. Also the top box comes off. I find it much lighter without the luggage and I guess more fun. Also I dont have to think about work stuff whilst riding so mentally more relaxed.

Re: kick and thrill?
Wouldn't catch me dead with a rucksack on my back, same goes for bum bags. The closest I get to a rucksack is a camelback Depending on what is in a rucksack, they can be dangerous even in a minor off...
I ride everyday, but I sure enjoy the times that I manage to get out to play... Oh F@&*, that rhymes! Cheers :) |

I enjoy any riding except for freezing my knackers off on the Mway. Unless I just keep the throttle pinned open, then it's fine. |
Re: kick and thrill?
I used to ride solely recreationally, but would do so in all weathers. Since using the bike for riding long distances in all weathers regularly for work and commuting, I only really enjoy social rides when the weather is half decent. I am sure if I ever went back to just riding for pleasure, I'd go back to riding in the rain for fun.

Re: kick and thrill?
I used to find my commute really drained the fun from biking, the weekend comes and all I can remember is 5 days of trudging through traffic on wet roads. Now I commute a bit less and I'm definately enjoying riding more. But it wasn't always like that, it seems to have come on more recently.

Re: kick and thrill?
I ride in all but the icey conditions because I enjoy it and it's quicker, BUT the rides I remember and the rides I really enjoy are the ones "for fun" in the nice weather.
If they were the only rides I ever did then the novelty would probably make me enjoy those even more than I currently do. Riding through the year makes you really appreciate the nice weather though, and it has probably helped me in terms of improving my riding a lot also. Which is a definite upside. |

Re: kick and thrill?
I havent commuted on a bike for a lengthy period (3 weeks in one stint was the longest) but I always enjoy the ride. I used to look forward to riding home on the bike, or riding into work. It was quite a trip which was why I took the bike rather than the car. Now its probably quicker by car as by the time I kit up, I could be there. Doesnt mean I wont do it on occasion in the summer.

Re: kick and thrill?
I'm glad others enjoy even a 'boring' commute. I enjoy mine and its 3.5 miles down a straight main road.
Phew, thought it was just me being odd! D |
Re: kick and thrill?
I love being on my bike, whether it's for the daily commute, a blast at the weekend or a bimble on a summers night with Nobbylass as pillion.
Yes there have been times on the commute when it's been so cold, wet, miserable and downright dangerous (thanks to other road users) that I've sometimes thought about just using the car to go to work....but all it takes is a couple of trips sat in traffic, dozing off in the warm comfort of the car, listening to all the doom and gloom on the radio and then I'm back on the bike regardless of weather. And +1 to the comments about enjoying the nice weather more when it's back! I bought my bike last July and would say that most of the 7k miles I've done since have been in poor weather (including trips I did in August!)....I can't wait for the dry, warmer weather to return! |
