Re: Other pillion grab rail/handle options
Could you not attach something stable to the rack? A sort of artificial grab rail? I take it that's metal, weld on something? Sorry am thinking in YC mode
Either that or try and get her used to not having something, although I admit if your wife is used to having the grabrail and suddenly it's not there any more it will be weird... |

Re: Other pillion grab rail/handle options
Ooops sorry, didn't see you'd already mentioned bodging lol! See if she'll come out with you on a couple of rides without anything, she might not feel quite so unstable?
Obviously if she's adamant about not getting on without then don't force her :-P Sorry can't help much more, I don't use the grab rail :-( |
Re: Other pillion grab rail/handle options
Hmmm, bodging you say...
I've got some 1/8th plate and some conduit that would be spot on handrail size. I haz TIG and not afraid to use it! |
Re: Other pillion grab rail/handle options
Get a topbox and a back rest if you don't mind spending abit.
My dads girlfriend had been known to fall asleep on the back of his CBF900 and Blackbird with his hard Givi luggage on, no holding on required. :) |

Re: Other pillion grab rail/handle options
I would also recommend a Triboseat cover. The difference it made for Kerri meant that she is now happy going pillion. She used to always hold on to me with one hand and the grab rail behind her with the other all the time. Got the Triboseat cover and on a fairly spirited ride she only noticeably grabbed hold of me once and that was when she assumed I was going to slow down when in fact I went full throttle :)
They are quite cheap and they may do more for your wife than you think they will. |

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll take a look at the Triboseat or summat similar (cheapo carpet gripper stuff maybe). Hmmm...YC you seem to have the necessary kit....I might take a trip o'er moors at some point! |
