Re: Buying a crashed bike; advice please.
Really sosha!!!! Thats incredible! Here you pay 4500 euros for 2003 - 2004 model second hand (in good condition). I have checked Germany and the prices are about the same.
What website do i look on for second hand motorbikes in England? |
Re: Buying a crashed bike; advice please.
You can get a brand new one in the UK for less than £4000
|
Re: Buying a crashed bike; advice please.
True but then i have to pay tax when i import it here. In Holland thats 17%.
Anyway i will look into it. What is the biggest online market for (second hand) motorbikes in England? |

Remember that not so long ago £3000 was €4500 - at the moment £3000 is €3000. Just looked at Cupar Suzuki (in Scotland) and they have a brand new (probably pre-registered) 07 Black SV Sport (so with fairings) for under £4000 SV650 SK7 Sport (black) £4,720 £3995 They MAY be able to do the headlight swap for you - they have always been good when I have talked to them on the phone - but I have never bought from them. |
Re: Buying a crashed bike; advice please.
Get some generous english person to buy you one as a gift. Then you can be equally generous and give them £4000

Re: Buying a crashed bike; advice please.
Screw that, walk away thats a money pit IMHO.

Re: Buying a crashed bike; advice please.
Yup, find one with less serious structural damage.

Re: Buying a crashed bike; advice please.
Far too dear IMO.
How about buying used in UK and trying to get one that was originally a parallel import. That would already be EU spec, would cost you very little here and the 17% tax wouldnt be much either. |

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUZUKI-SV650K8...3A1|240%3A1318 Not recommending them - just the first thing that popped up when I looked. Exchange rate's everything..... (And yes I am bored at work) |
Re: Buying a crashed bike; advice please.
I just looked up the tax laws on importing in Holland and its bad news....
Any import from any country you have to pay 19.4% of the vehicles value this can be decided in one of three ways (you get to choose yourself) - Independant tax specialist assesses the value - Catalogue value - Depreciation table (used only) As you can see this makes it slightly harder but still possible. Still have 2 questions 1. Is this a good bike for me size wise (im 1.86m) and like long distance riding upwards of 1000km relativly often (in one go just with petrol stops) 2. Second hand motorbike website for the UK!!!!!! |
