my dad used to have a yamaha XT550 or 500 (cant remember), this was when i was really little apparently, like, 2 months old. One winter, he used it to get acoss the local feilds to get baby formula for me and my bro, and recalls how he laughed at people stuck in the snow while he bombed along

however

when he came back to his XT, he went to kickstart it....but he got kick-back. since there was so many people standind around, he valiently rode off....round the corner...and then got off, and cried cos it hurt so much

then bombed back home

Yeah if my trials bike had more than about 15 miles of tank range I could ride that in, that would be a larrf.

Hell no. No tube or buses either, so I stayed at home.

It's still snowing too, and due to get heavier in a couple of hours. Getting out is one thing, getting back home later entirely another.

Unfortunately the motah was getting collected for MOT and service so it was bike.

Roads were all clear and well gritted. Just my SV and a R1150LT in work.

The amount of snow in Glasgow is hardly worth mentioning. Time yet for weather-based chaos ,with a bit of luck. Love it.

I don't get the negativity - I mean it's not like you get a prize for taking more risks!

House is on top of a hill in Thornliebank. Great for bumping bikes and getting to work! Not so good coming home.:) TBH its always well gritted as its a bit of a rat-run.

My niece is working in Castlemilk and has asked me to dig her 1st car out when she finishes at 7pm the nicht. Only had her license a coupla weeks. She was not having fun this morning.

I see snow as a challenge, and I've always been the kind of person that enjoys a challenge.

Ice is a challenge too, and I do go out on the bike when I know it's icy.

Haven't been to work yet, I don't start until 3. I'll be using the bike - though there is only a light dusting here & the main roads are fine.

Common sense says keeping perpendicular in these conditions is going to be difficult
and the chance of ending up horizontal very high.Being retired I fortunately have the choice where as you may not-------GOOD LUCK ON THE WAY HOME
