Afraid not. I did go through a phase of "sod it, i will just keep riding and see what happens", but then the doctors told me of the consequences of what could happen if I damaged my spine whilst I was actually riding the bike. I couldnt live with myself if I injured or killed someone else due to my own selfishness. Also Sarah said she doesnt particularly want to be a widow at the ripe old age of 38 either!

The problem with my spine is a congenital one. it is from my dads side of the family, but doesnt affect every generation. i guess ive just been very unlucky. It is basically a brittleness of the discs between the vertibrae, which can shatter with sudden impacts. Ive had a bad back for about two or three years. Very stiff in the mornings. Then about six months ago, i was getting a lack of sensation in my left leg, like it was going numb all the time. Thats when I decided to go and get it checked out.

Anyways, ive decided to "bite the bullet", and hang up my spurs while I can still walk.

Just need to find myself a hobby now thats a bit less dangerous. What do you reckon, ive got it down to:

Hang gliding
Bungee jumping
abseiling
white water rafting

I couldnt possibly come to any harm doing any of those now could I?

I gave up something I was passionate about, because of illness, so you have my sympathy too.
I hope you find something to fill the void.:(

i was looking for that video you posted of the race bike and noticed that you hadnot been around.... Totally gutted for you mate..
