Re: problem
sould be easyier than that mate new spark good clean of the plug area (get out all the crap and water) i had the same problem on mine but after the clean and a fender extender she runs sweet as a nut now, also try upping the idle speed for a week or so (helped with mine) it just the wee disc on the right hand side of the engine just below the bikini fairing
turn it clock wise to up it anti to lower |
Re: problem
also make sure the ht leads a fully seated and not loose at all
hth |
Re: problem
it has a fender exstender on her already. and when i got her her tick over was about 1k over what it should be so i'll give it a go and see what happens
thanks dave for the tips. but the spark isn't big and it is dark with the odd flash of orange which isn't right could it be a dodgy ht lead or a loose earth maybe? |
Re: problem
simple test take out you other sparkplug and stick it in if it sparks the same think earth or ht if not its just the sparkplug itself but trust me on the clean out its worth doing every 3-4 months if like me you commute in all weathers

Re: problem
ok i think i have a dodgy ht lead
i took the coils off swapped them around checked them good nice bright blue sparks from both plugs with the wires not stretched at all, put the bike back together still the same problem so checked the plugs with the bike more intact the rear is nice and bright but with the front ht lead with the rad pulled out the way and testing the spark on the right of the frame it is putting out a orange spark! |
Re: problem
re checked all my ht leads and plugs i have two good sparks now i havent got a clue where to look next
what else could cause the bike not to be able to run properly????? |
Re: problem
DONE IT the bike works now i think during the back fire it disloged the carbs slightly and gave it an air leak
put a stainless oval ccc exhaust on though i have to get a decent clamp for it atm it look like the previous owner used a scaffold pole!! many thanks for the advice from the ppl on here though ! :) |
