Think I'm right anyway as my 400 didn't have that (circled).

No that's always there. A slip-on mounts way further back on the link pipe before the can which will need to be cut.

Take the baffle out before you put it on, and then "lose" it.. ;)

I'd love to do that but don't think I should risk it :(.
I'm in the restricted club but have second hand washers in so can't attract unwanted attention, gutted :smt065.
