Re: Scrappage scheme
A friend of a friend has bought two cars using the scheme - a new Scirocco - trading in a 1999 T registered Megane Coupe - a nice car with only 54k on it! What a waste! They also bought something else that I cant remember.
Totally agreed though - I have a 1998 BMW 316i Compact - its done 140k, does between 36 and 40mpg and cost me £800 - I am more than happy with it and wouldnt tuck myself up with loads of debt to replace it but I guess I am the sort of person this scheme is aimed at. |

Re: Scrappage scheme
The other ereason that they wouldn't do it for bikes is that they are trying to increase volumes for the car manufacturers - bikes are not manufactured here, only assembled by the importers so they would being putting money into the sector for no return.

Re: Scrappage scheme
My neighbour has swapped in both of his cars old 94 corsa for a c1 and a 96 honda accord to a Xsara Picasso.
For them it has worked well as they had already planned to buy new cars so got a discount on their worthless wrecks. Daughter bought her fiesta last year pre registered and cheaper than she would have got with scrappage on new |

Re: Scrappage scheme
Ahhh, Citroen always give big discounts. I also heard Peugeot offering £4,300 scrappage scheme. Pi**es me off the Govt. is taking all the credit for this, unless they are taking the credit for bringing the Motor industry to it's knees?
