I say this everytime this is asked. It doesnt matter what chain you get, if you look after it, it will last longer. I have never had fancy chains on my bike and they all last in excess of 20k!

Sid Squid did once tell me to always use a Suzuki OEM front sprocket as they are harder and last longer than any of the kits ones. Sadly i cant prove this as i have never done it. Every time i say, yup, going to do that and i dont!

I wondered as i want some thing with out the suzuki price tag and wanted to know what lasted best as i have heard (ok it was on a zx7r) but the person in question their renthal kit only lasts them 7k.

I always look after mine properly and check it adjust it and clean it when ever needed.

Thanks for all your help i shall order a new one tomorrow as i have mine tensioned nicely but it has to much movement at the rear sprocket.

What do you class as too much movement? If you can see the top of the teeth when you pull the chain off the back of the sprocket, then yes its fubard! If not, its fine. Also tight spots, how many and how tight etc.

Renthal sprockets are soft. If you canged the sprockets say every 4k, then the chain would last longer

if i pull it back the teeth can almost be seen if you hold it at the back and move it up and down it moves on the sprocket, i also noticed that towards the bottom its falling off at around about the 4 - 5 o clock position (which idk if they do any way but its first time ive noticed it)

Tsubaki chain and JT sprockets is my preference.
You can get a few different grades, I'm on the "sigma" which is the middle one of the 3 and a grade heavier than recommended.

So long as you go for quality chain and steel sprockets then it'll be reet.

Is that available as a kit or was it a build your own type thing? how much as well

Just ring b and c express and tell them what you want. No particular advantage to buying a kit.

IIRC chain was £85 and sprockets put it just over £100.

JT sprockets are just a manufacturer. Good quality steel ones.

Whether they are any better than other types of steel ones I couldn't say. But, they are a known quantity.
