108 links , 45rear sprocket (if I recall correctly) and I'm not positive but 15 rings a bell with the front. Aslong as the chain and front sprocket are exact your fine - rear can differ by 1, maybe 2 and still be rideable - chances are you wouldn't notice the difference.

Anyway just count how many are on your existing sprockets as you remove them (i hold the old and new against each other)

thanks Dave.

I am looking forward to getting my hands dirty this weekend and getting the chain replaced. Just hope the weather holds long enough to get it sorted.

Goodluck

Sorry if this is patronising but remember you can't slip the chain of the SV's swing arm it needs to be broke, also undo the bolts which are bound to be mega tight while the chains still on and before you remove the wheel/jack it up (front sprocket nut particularly)

not patronising at all, I am grateful for any hints and tips to make it go smoothly for me.

Re: chain and sprocket change

All done. Front sprocket came off VERY easily, no effort at all, I was expecting a bit of a struggle.

The riveting tool snapped with very little pressure :-( ended up using 2 hammers to flatten the rivet heads. Took the opportunity to adjust the clutch while I was at it too. It rides like a new bike now.

thanks all for the advice

Ste
