Am i right in saying your not supposed to use anything abraisive as there is a coating on the downpipes? or is that rubbish?

Sally's right, mine is a stainless can so rain & a rub with a glove makes it all shiny and nice ;)

Sounds like rubbish - some members wet & dry then auto sol their downpipes. Not sure what the coating may be?


Edit: just checked - mine is coated in rust

The downpipes on my old bike were a mess, but about to take delivery of a 2000 mile 56plate sv that looks like its never seen the rain so i'll be trying to keep it that way!

Downpipes are not coated they are just low grade stainless. Dizzyblonde is the polishing freak to talk to. But, if they are already shiny, then regular autosol will keep them that way.

When the exhaust has been a state I've used wire wool along with autosol, as an example (and I know it's not an SV)
