Re: Has anyone built a shed?
Just spoke to Andy on the phone:
He's intending on putting up a cutsom made timber shed pretty much the same size as his bike so rougly 3x2m. On paved but uneven ground round the back of his house. |
Re: Has anyone built a shed?
most of the assembly line at Renault/Citroen/The former Austin Rover, and of course Vauxhall stand accused of having built many sheds.

Re: Has anyone built a shed?
Most commercial sheds come as a set of screw together panels. The good news is that a trained monkey can assemble them, the bad news is that there's no scope to tailor them to fit your site. Shed floors are notoriously crap, so you'd probably need to replace it with some heavy plywood for a bike store.
If the bike access is at the top of the slope you could consider building a timber frame (like installing decking). Then flooring it with 19mm marine plywood and putting your shed on top. The other question, is do you need a shed or would you be happy with a cover to keep the rain off. If so, you could probably use a simple wooden framework with clear(ish) corrugated plastic on the top. Keith. |

http://www.motosafe.co.uk/bikesafe-c19.html Very secure and pretty easy to put up, but would require a solid, level base to put it on. Might even know where one is going 2nd hand shortly. |
Re: Has anyone built a shed?
Firstly sorry to matt, Im not supposed to take calls at work so apologies if i was rude.
Right. I have a small yard round the back. This is basically a rectangle, however as i mentioned before there’s a good 10+deg slope to it. This coupled with the fact that its (very old) flags (stone) means its no where near flat. I could relay the flags but last time i touched them they de-laminated so im very reluctant to do that. Nowthen i cant fit a full sized shed in there. Well i could, just, but it would restrict next doors access and plunge the kitchen into darkness, not good. So i would like something that i can push the bike into (more on that later) thats not much bigger than the bike its self. Thus we have more room to manoeuvre. So the other problem is that im not that strong and wheeling the bike back and fourth to get it tight up against the back wall is a pain in the ass (its uphill remember). I could do with an easy way of wheeling it in at a 30 deg angle and then swinging the back end around to keep it flush with the wall. This would be doable with a centestand and a bit of thinking but i don’t have a centrestand... any ideas again? As you can see its getting a bit more complicated than a little shed...I would be happy with a lean to kind of weather cover if i could find something that was really really nicely designed. So thats what ive thought of so far. |
