Re: Burning Smell
Surely you should be asking yourself "why is my engine / radiator getting so hot as to be giving off a burning smell ?"
Q: Is there the right amount of oil / does it need changing Q: Is the coolant levels correct ? Q: Is the fuel / air mix lean / rich to cause the pistons to run hotter than normal ? |
Re: Burning Smell
Yeah i've tried to get my nose right in to have a smell and closer look, just cant pin point it. Also I havent put wd-40 anywhere
Best I can say is its like a rubbery/electrical smell. I have a Curvy 51. Cheers guys |
Re: Burning Smell
^^ ok maybe check there is no ruber hoses/cables on any exhast parts, raiator parts as the rads do get verry hot (my bike runs up to 90c in trafic and about 82c on M way)
you could try and wet the bike then start it get it to operating temp and see where the smoke(if it is smoke) is coming from |
Re: Burning Smell
the steam in the wet, is just rain evapotaing off the radiator.
In the dry I'd worry about a buring smell. Do you spray oil or greace remover on the bike when cleaning it? if so it could simply be this, if you dont then I'd suggest flushing the rad fluid out and replacing it, also make sure the plastic around the fan isnt in contact with the rad its self. see if that makes any odds. |
