Re: Woo, homemade pasta!
Anyway...back to pasta...
This is the one Rach bought me...naughty girl, I sent her a link for a £20 one but thank you hunny if you read this... I FRLOVE it! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Imperia-Ital...8758892&sr=8-2 This is a cheaper one... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kitchen-Craf...8758892&sr=8-4 |
Re: Woo, homemade pasta!
I've been making pasta for a few years, it's easy and much more tasty that the supermarket stuff. The cheaper pasta machines tend to strip their gears, the Imperia will last forwever!
GG, I'm hoping Santa brings me the Ravioli attatchment this year. I've been a good boy, honest!! Glad you're enjoying it too, ignore the recipes that say it has to rest after mixing, just get a nice dough and roll away! Oh, and if you can find Dove's Farm flour, it's my fave. Pete ;) |

Re: Woo, homemade pasta!
Haha...I cleaned it thoroughly...lol.
Pete, I know what you mean. I am not much of one for following recipes. I know how a dough should feel, so I'll do what I need to make it right, if that means ignoring the recipe...I will. It never fails me. I love making pastry and have made wafer thin wanton wrappers and all sorts in the past, it is all so easy! The pasta though...wow. You really can taste the diference. I will look out for that flour.....I will never make it if I haven't got super fresh free range eggs though. I'm going to use a goose egg next time instead of two chicken eggs....I'll have an orange pasta probably...lol. Oh and yes.....I'm glad I got the imperia! |

I like filled pasta - make a mush out of pretty much anything you have to hand such as spinach and cheese, or shredded-up cooked chicken and mushrooms. Use a pasrty cutter to make cirlces, half-fill, fold over and seal with a wet finger, then cook. All done in under half an hour start-to finish. |
Re: Woo, homemade pasta!
is it easier than throwing summin in the microwave and adding some water?

Yeah, I'm going to do filled pasta tonight. Actually....chicken and wild mushroom in a fresh tomato and basil sauce. I hardly ever use bowls for things like this, luckily the island in the kitchen is huge so I use that usually. The best was when me and and Dan both made filled bread, each using our own end of the island. It is so much easier to mix things on a flat surface isn't it! I will say this though,I haven't found the pasta machine to be a PIA at all. Find it easier than trying to get the same quality pasta through rolling by hand. Pasta ready from start to finish in less than 10 mins. I like leaving it to dry though. I have noticed a difference in the pasta when left to rest for 5 mins though. Pasta rocks!!!:D |
Re: Woo, homemade pasta!
Oh....coolgirl, I have not bothered washing the pasta machine either...lol. I let it dry and banged it out, but there wasn't anything stuck in there. I just rub a little flour on it on both sides and run it through...doesn't stick at all.
