Re: Bearing question for Curvy

you struggle to get that bearing from the uk. i swapped my stems and made a sleave for the top yoke and 20 quid for standard bearings job done, the sv stem has a lip on the bottom where its pressed into the yoke, i didnt realise and broke it off, took 7 tons. tapped and machined a bolt on the bottom then pressed it in its very neat i'll put a pick up when i get home

Re: Bearing question for Curvy

I have a mate with a lathe so I can machine the lip off.

When you say standard bearings you are talking about standard SV bearings?

The place I went to for the bearings ABEX gets stuff from around the world and are sending it "across the wires" today, will have an answer tomorrow

Pictures would be cool

Re: Bearing question for Curvy

Standard bottom bearing for the SV and for the GSXR is same. GSXR SRAD onwards uses the same bearing top and bottom.

Re: Bearing question for Curvy

no you dont have to machine the stem, just make sure you push the stem downwards through the yoke not the otherway round, i didnt know about the lip and thats what i did and broke it  you will have to give your yokes to someone with a press you wont be able to do it by hand, then make up a sleave for the top yoke to fit the stem

Downwards? Stem is pressed from bottom up. Sv stem is smaller diameter than gsxr stem at part pressed in triple. You need to weld material on stem and than turn it down to correct size, or machine triple and press bushing in. You also need to make bushing for upper triple since hole in gsxr triple is bigger than sv stem.

Re: Bearing question for Curvy

that's what i meant push the stem out downwards and no welding is required its a straight swap with only one sleeve needed for the top yoke
