Ultimately of course it's your choice big fella, and once you fire it through a series of bends, your hairs may be standing on end and you'll have a new love in your life.

However, one thing I reckon we can all agree on is that it looks pants. Only it's mother would love it for that mush :pig:, and part of the Ducati experience, is that when it's broken down, it should still be nice to look at :smt043

Cheers Taipan , well Pete that`s the thing . It was never going to win a beauty contest yet it still sold shedloads at the time so there must be something there in the handling that gives it a fighting chance , looks wise it is not the best so second hand prices are pretty good right now . I actually spotted a Black one on a 54 plate with 18k on it for £2999 on Bike Trader and that was a dealer .

Woods have/had one. Handy for a test ride, and this place has got a more expensive one, but it has most of the goodies, barring panniers, and it'll have a full service beforehand.

The one in Woods is £3199 , has 30k on the clock and had a faulty Clock at one point and was replaced , the new clock says 4-5k miles on it . Woods are only down the road from me but are very top heavy on their prices . That reminds me , I won a T-shirt on their site and need to collect it :)

I did spot the one at Motorapido the other day and thought it was well worth the extra considering what it has on it .

Just seen the Hairy Bikers on Tv and one of them is riding a Black One , I have to agree that the Red one looks nicer .

well , popped into Woods today and had a sit on one . Love the riding position as a first impression . Had a chat with the guys there and they all said the same thing . DO NOT buy a Ducati with my current riding lifestyle . They knew me the second I walked in the door and remembered my name and they all know I`m a high mileage rider despite me never mentioning it ????? I asked them how they knew and they say it`s a running joke in that place as to who has spotted me and where . Dunno whether to be chuffed about that or worried as they are a dealer and will knock me down on my trade-ins .

Anyhoo . They all stated that it would be folly to buy the 03 Multi with that many miles on it and would be better off with the 05 engine fwith less mileage and cheaper costs on servicing and it also has a wet clutch on that version . They also said that it would be best to not be a commuter bike and keep it for jollies . So my best bet is to pass car test this year and use that to commute before I even consider being a Multistrada owner . They even mentioned the fact that the 05 plated 600 Multistrada they had was a better option cost wise than the 1000 for servicing costs . I sat on that as well and it was only a little shorter in height than the Thou`. The next step they said was to give them a bell and sort out a good day and come in early and I can take the 600 out in the morning and then have the 1000 for the afternoon on a back-to-back test ride . Food for thought eh . I`m off to check out specs on the 600 and see if it is not a little under powered for my needs as I could quite happily have that if the handling surpasses the power Jollies .

Sounds very similar to a m8 of mine, the dealer basically said the same thing to him as he needed the bike for daily work, he didn't listen and once a fortnight he couldn't get to work due to the bike. As I biker I understood but most managers wouldn't. I would never ever consider a duc as a daily ride ever, they are toys nothing more.

Pass it was a brand new 900s I think but it was just rubbish, loved it but after the curvy he had it was rally a bag off bolts that was just so poor, he has a triumph now

Don't think that is the case with all Dukes TBH. The Multi's are supposed to be the do it all bike. Problem is that most dealers don't service them properly and the battery is a bit marginal on them too. The newer Dukes are better in their service time, although you do wonder how they suddenly just cut 50% off the time, so possibly there will be problems as the miles accrue. Our Duke goes to the dealer for a week as it's a two day job, but the aircooled may be better in that respect, plus the new Dukes are 7,500 miles between services I believe.
