The ticket you got was a conditional fixed penalty notice

It gives you the opportunity to just pay the fine and take the points if you know you're guilty and saves the court time and costs associated with prosecuting you

The condition is that if you accept the notice you won't be prosecuted

If you don;t you can have your day in court, but there's not a snowball in hell's chance that you'll get away with less than what the FPN is offering you...

What he said. They can't send you a NIP now if they have issued you with a ticket, don't panic!

It is a conditional offer of fixed penalty notice, which you don't have to accept but like TLW said, you don't have a chance in hell of getting less than 3pts and £60 fine for them there speeds. Once you have been issued with one of these you will hear no more about it providing you pay it.

Well - on the yellow sheet there is no mention of the amount of points or fine, just a code 622 and he highlighted the payment line/ address to pay the fine to.

One other thing to mention...

If the police got you at 97 your speedo would have been hitting 105-110mph

Perhaps an idea to calm down a bit? If you have previous the next time you get pulled they probably won't be so lenient...

What was your speedo showing when you looked down then?

Matt

The ticket is basically just paperwork. Wherever the address is you will have to take the ticket, the fine and send your D/L for them to endorse with points on the Counterpart.

There should be a payment part of the ticket.

You are required to produce so your licence can be sent off for the endorsement.

You could fight it depending on how you were 'clocked' as this is the typical way to 'get' someone where there may not be enough evidence to convict. Should you go to court you'd face 97mph in a 70 for which the penalty is 4-6 points[1], a largish find and possible short term disqualification.

Unless there was something seriously dodgy about the pull I'd take it on the chin.

Perhaps I am not making myself clear:

* I am happy to take the 3 points and fine for a mistake on my part
* Well aware that 2 minutes of foot down in 3 yrs has resulted in an instant pull

Whole point of my post was to make sure that what the officer had verbally said in car stacked up.

And yes I clenched when the mirrors lit up. Cannot possibly say on an open forum what my speedo read when I looked down....
