thats nearly ATC marksman standard, very good,

I used to be a fantastic shooting consistently up to 800 yards, and I have just been granted my Shotgun Cert as a stepping stone to my Cat 1 Fire arms..:-)

she getting an air rifle for her next birthday?

ATC marksman standard is laughable, I took my springer air rifle down to the cadet range and showed the instructor up with it :-)
when you can get a rabbit in the head at 40 yards it's not hard to hit a 5p size group at 10 meters.
range night we used to get 5 rounds apiece? At shooting club i would do 50-100 a night, no wonder the cadets were all crap shots!

Best I ever got was with a drop-block anschutz at the local club, 25m, 99/100. Never did hit a possible.

If you get her an air rifle it is a whole different ball game, a springer is way harder to shoot well than a .22 because you get the kick before the pellet has left the barrel so your hold on it is critical. PCP rifle is so much easier and more accurate, but 3 or 4 times the price.

Yea... but 2p piece at 25 yards is the same accuracy required for shooting a bunny at 40. Unless your rifle is FAC or modified I wouldn't be shooting bunnies at 40 yards.

Either way, I was a fookin good shot on a longer range :-)

Which one is it and how much? what sights on it etc.
I've got a CF30 around somewhere and it shoots pretty sweet.

2p piece is about the size of a rabbits head for a clean kill. And that is at 40 yards. 12 ft lb rifle you can get within that and there's enough power left at that for the pellet to be at least halfway through the head.
Chest shot is marginal and I would rather let one go without firing than miss.

Our range at cadets for marksman badge you had to get 5 rounds touching a 5p piece at 10m (might have been 15?). Either way it was no achievement.

I've not done much at longer ranges which is a shame as I'd love to, but I'd get laughed at by the local constabulary applying for shotgun ticket never mind FAC

I used to shoot .22 competitively at 25 yards 3 times a week and at 50 whenever we could get range access.

Ed, your lass is doing great. I guess they are just getting her concentrating on her grouping for now. once consistent and tight she can get the sights set exactly as she needs them for scoring. Good to see a girl enjoying her shooting. I used to take my daughters pistol shooting with me.

The issue, .22" is so precise. Your first poss is a great feeling, even better when the results back give it. However, to achieve anything in the sport you need to have a stupid average. I was getting around 99.2 and could only get county trials.

Hence I took up pistol shooting where nothing was as serious and you could enjoy your sport.

Encourage her all you can Ed. but be prepared for it to take over her life

I'd say it was tbh.

I was gutted as I never got my marksman. 1 shot, half the pellet too wide :(

I loved shooting at school/college, i used to average around 95/100. Never done it since, bit of a shame really.
