I would have thought it was probably impossible or at least it would be for such a short period of time before you'd have to grab the bar again to make it pointless.

I have gotten my knee down with one hand which is quit easy and i'm no rossi. But bikes need rider input to get round a bend, in particular counter steering, and as you can see if you watch bike racing when there is no ride input (i.e. when someone comes off) a bikes natural tendendcy is to sit up right and carry on in a straight line therefore if you have no hands on the handlebars you would have to choices:

Lean so far off the bike to make the bike lean over that you risk crashing

or take you hands off the bars and enjoy the millisecond of no-hands kneedown before the bike sits upright.

Not quite - you only need the right amount of throttle to balance the lean & the turning circle. Less & you fall inwards, more & you do the other thing. Counter steering only initiates the turn and is only used again to alter it.

yeah but how would you get the right amount of throttle with no hands on the bars??

As pointed out a friction throttle may be required, or a slowing corner, interesting.
